Have You Seen My Gods, A special screening of Amitabh Joshi’s powerful documentary exploring Nepal’s stolen sacred heritage. REGISTER HERE For our November program, we would like to host an exclusive screening of Have You Seen My Gods? , followed by a special appearance by Alisha Sijapati . The program will create an opportunity for audiences to engage more deeply with themes of Nepali heritage, spirituality, identity, cultural memory, and preservation through film and conversation. About the film: Sparked by his grandmother’s ailing health, a filmmaker returns to Kathmandu, a city of vanished gods and fading rituals. When the Laxmi Narayan statue, stolen in the 1980s, resurfaces in a U.S. museum, its repatriation, led by local activists, becomes a path he follows through ritual, shrines, and the diaspora. Featuring rare archival footage of Kathmandu from the 1950s and a quiet investigative thread that uncovers the identity of the art collector who acquired the statue, the film becomes a lyrical elegy and a quiet act of resistance against colonial theft and cultural erasure. Join the Colorado Nepalese Community for a screening of this 60-minute documentary, winner of Best Documentary at the Nepal-America International Film Festival, followed by a Q&A with director Amitabh Joshi , on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 3 to 5 PM at The Museum of Boulder, 2205 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80302. This program was created in partnership with the Colorado Nepalese Community as part of the Heritage in Motion: Third Series exhibit on display at the Museum of Boulder from August 22, 2026 – January 3, 2027.

Rooted in deep cultural understanding and long-standing local relationships, our approach prioritizes community-driven, economically viable solutions that can endure long after initial support. HHHE’s work began in Nepal, inspired by Mr. Shrestha’s return to his home village of Khandbari in the late 1980s. During that visit, an encounter with a critically injured child—who had gone days without medical care—sparked the realization that access to even basic healthcare was profoundly limited in rural regions. This moment planted the seeds for Helping Hands: an organization built on collaboration between international medical vol
