About
Moab-based, Louisiana-born artist and folk singer-songwriter Rachel Toups spins tales of nature – from geologic processes to the deep wells of the human heart. A self-taught guitarist, Toups’ music is shaped by the folk, jazz, and blues traditions they grew up with, formal training in classical and contemporary choral music, and engagement in ambient and experimental music scenes on the West Coast. In their songs, Toups weaves a sound that has been described as “a captivating mix of soothing and creepy” embodying a “joyful mysticism” which seeks to invite the listener into another world. This performance will serve as a "homecoming" after spending three weeks on the road promoting their upcoming record, softissue. The first single, your heart, it pours, is currently available wherever you hear music.
