Our goal is to provide participants with a welcoming space to share their work, receive feedback, and build community through writing. Participants are strongly encouraged to register for each session they plan to attend (see below). Sessions with one or fewer registrants will be canceled. For a given session, please email the work you plan to share (no more than about five minutes of reading, please) to Adult Services Librarian Eric White at ewhite@estesvalleylibrary.org, and Eric will print a copy for each registrant to use for reading and commenting. Please do your best to fit your work on a single double-sided sheet. All copies will be returned to the submitter. For more about the group (format, ground rules, suggestions for a productive session), please see the attached document. We hope you'll join us! Why does encountering the "real" sometimes feel maddening rather than grounding? Is reality something we can progressively understand, or does it inevitably resist our reach? Join us online to explore Iris Murdoch’s compelling call to face reality head-on—and why doing so can feel so deeply disorienting. You can find the reading here; upon registering below, you'll receive an email with the link to join the discussion. Each month, we'll read a relatively short philosophical text and then meet online on the fourth Thursday to discuss it. Philosophy Ph.D. candidate Kyle York and other CU Boulder philosophy graduate students facilitate discussions. We hope you'll join us!

Young Chautauqua invites youth ages 9 and up to step into the life of a historical figure! Participants research a person from history, create a costume, and develop, memorize, and rehearse a presentation based on their figure’s life, words, and writings. Led by middle school English teacher and acting coach Katherine Dumont, this program has helped young people explore history, acting, public speaking, and creative expression for more than 10 years. The program requires a commitment to research, practice, and participation. Younger children are welcome with an accompanying adult. The series ends with community performances, where participants bring their historical figures to life for an audience. Adults are encouraged to participate, too! Location: Estes Park Middle School, Room 126 More information can be found here.
