Have You Seen My Gods, A special screening of Amitabh Joshi’s powerful documentary exploring Nepal’s stolen sacred heritage. The program will create an opportunity for audiences to engage more deeply with themes of Nepali heritage, spirituality, identity, cultural memory, and preservation through film and conversation. About the film: Sparked by his grandmother’s ailing health, a filmmaker returns to Kathmandu, a city of vanished gods and fading rituals. When the Laxmi Narayan statue, stolen in the 1980s, resurfaces in a U.S. museum, its repatriation, led by local activists, becomes a path he follows through ritual, shrines, and the diaspora. Featuring rare archival footage of Kathmandu from the 1950s and a quiet investigative thread that uncovers the identity of the art collector who acquired the statue, the film becomes a lyrical elegy and a quiet act of resistance against colonial theft and cultural erasure. Join the Colorado Nepalese Community for a screening of this 60-minute documentary, winner of Best Documentary at the Nepal-America International Film Festival, followed by a Q&A with director Amitabh Joshi , on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 3 to 5 PM at The Museum of Boulder, 2205 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80302.
